In an era where the job market is constantly evolving, it’s becoming increasingly important for professionals to stay ahead of the curve. This is where MeetPollen comes in – a new French startup that’s changing the way people learn new skills. Instead of traditional classroom settings or online courses, Pollen invites experienced business executives and top performers from the tech industry to host classes with a small group of participants.

The Founders’ Vision

Behind the scenes, Pollen was co-founded by Julie Ranty, former managing director of Viva Technology, one of Paris’s most popular tech conferences. Alongside Olivier Xu and Vincent Huguet, they created a platform that brings together working professionals to share their expertise with others. Interestingly, Huguet is also the co-founder and co-CEO of Malt, a freelancer marketplace – a testament to his understanding of marketplaces.

"I’m convinced that the best professional training courses today are given by people who aren’t trainers yet," Pollen CEO Julie Ranty told us. "They are working professionals who are willing to share their secret sauce with you, their experience, work methodology, and highly actionable content – not just inspiring content, but actionable content for the next day."

Why Tech Industry Leaders Join Pollen

So, why does Pollen focus on the tech industry? Ranty explained that it’s because this field is constantly changing. Professionals working in tech are likely to be using or thinking about implementing new technologies like generative AI, sophisticated sales methods, or tweaking their pricing and monetization strategies.

Pollen’s Unique Selling Point

Pollen has already attracted 40 industry leaders who host classes on its behalf. These courses are typically four hours long, followed by a lunch break to facilitate networking and sharing tips in an informal setting. Some courses can also be eight-hour all-day sessions with breaks in between.

Interestingly, Pollen offers both online and offline classes. While online courses might seem appealing due to their convenience, many participants prefer the in-person experience. "With online classes, it isn’t an eight-hour Zoom tunnel," Ranty said. "It’s two-hour blocks spread over two weeks – you get four times two hours over two weeks."

What Motivates Industry Leaders to Join Pollen

So, what motivates industry leaders to share their expertise on the Pollen platform? We spoke with some of them and found that they’re driven by a desire to give back to their community. They want to help others succeed in the ever-changing tech landscape.

How Pollen is Revolutionizing Professional Development

Pollen’s approach is revolutionary because it breaks away from traditional classroom settings and online courses. By bringing together experienced professionals, Pollen creates an environment where participants can learn from each other, ask questions, and share their own experiences.

This model has several benefits:

  2. Networking opportunities: In-person classes provide a unique chance for networking and building relationships with like-minded professionals.
  3. Mentorship: Industry leaders become mentors, guiding participants through real-world challenges and sharing best practices.
